Always. Even when you are the PO. Hey so guess what! The coolant hole I drilled and tapped in my last Wagovan update? Not a coolant hole.
Yeah... as far as I can tell it is part of the air system. The coolant hole is in a much more logical location and shouldn’t need tapping as the intake adapter seals it.
So. Pissed.
Both at myself and at... well myself.
Seems obvious now that I look at it...
To be fair even the Honda FSM doesn’t seem to go over this stuff so... boo on Honda for that.
Anyway, that just means I need to do a little better job getting the rest of the cuttings out and then... send it? I think the damage I did to the hole is only cosm etic.

It’s even worse when you’re a programmer..
“what f*ckin ass wrote this gem and what in god’s name were they thinking, this makes absolutely no sense whatsover, I hope it’s someone who doesn’t work here anymore so I can bitch about how awful this is...” *checks version control history* “ah shit that’s right, I did work on this a few months ago....”

I’m an EE, so I shouldn’t be a programmer... but frequently have to be. So yeah.. be there.

The po of my car didn’t fuck around with it at all, and that’s great. Unfortunately, that means that they didn’t fuck around with it at all and it sat outside.

Aw man, that sucks. After all the trouble of tapping it. At least no serious harm was done.

Yeah... you always want the PO to have done just the right amount of maintenance. Or, preferably, paid someone to do just the right amount of maintenance.

It’s rarely been the PO that’s been an issue on my vehicles, it’s usually the shop that did the work for them.

Nothing super critical to fix, but tachometer doesn’t work, rear defrost doesn’t work, passenger seat doesn’t work(the controls are MIA and I stole some parts from it to make the driver’s seat work so I think the passenger will just have to deal with how it is), radio is MIA and the wiring for that is quite a rat’s nest so I’ll probably just keep using a bluetooth speaker. There are also a lot of connections under the hood that aren’t plugged into anything. Actually now that I’m listing it out it’s a surprisingly short list for the amount of homebrew wiring under the hood. Although to be fair I thought a lot more of the wiring was a homebrew hackjob until I found an underhood picture of a new 3.9 Range Rover and realized that’s just how it was originally.
I think this weekend I’m finally going to get around to wiring up the aux lights it came with.

Yeah that all sounds about right! Tach and rear defrost could be anything, but should be easy to troubleshoot anyway.
